If you have had Introduction to Disaster Relief and/or any specialized classes, and your class certification has expired or will expire this year, please take the opportunity and get re-certified, so that you may be able to serve when a disaster occurs. If you take Introduction to Disaster Relief, you need to recertify every 3 years, regardless of activation. To take Recertification class, you must be an existing volunteer.

Introduction to Disaster Relief and Specialized Classes – Dandridge (East TN)

Please preregister by Tuesday, February 14, so that we can supply you with the proper training materials.
The credentialing fee is $40 (effective January 1, 2023). This fee will cover not only the cost of the ID, hat, background check, and membership pin, but also the cost of any of the basic training courses a volunteer wants to take over the next 3 years.
In order to be fully credentialed, you will need to take at least one specialized class after you have taken the prerequisite course of “Introduction to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.”

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM Unit Director/Blue Cap Training (must have letter of recommendation)
10:30 AM -10:45 AM Break
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM Chainsaw Operation & Safety (Classroom)
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM Damage Assessment
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM Fire Recovery
12:15 PM – 1:00 PM Lunch – $6/person
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Flood Recovery
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Tree Felling Techniques (new class to learn new skills)
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Introduction to Disaster Relief
1:00 PM – 3:30 PM Forklift Operation & Safety/Skid steer (Hands-on – must have previous classroom training)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Bucket Truck Classroom Training (A & B)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM FormStack (Bring Cellphone or Computer)
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Spiritual Preparation/Evangelism* – (needs to be taken with other courses besides Intro to DR as you will not be certified with just this class as we do not do callouts on this class. This is for personal spiritual preparation before a callout.)
