More than 1,500 families in East Tennessee were devastated by the floods in late September 2024, caused by Hurricane Helene. The homes of over 500 families were destroyed. Tennessee Baptists have committed to rebuilding at least 40 of these homes and repair as many others as possible working in collaboration with Appalachian Service Project.
