Just want to give you an update on the needs that are out there for Disaster Response.
We are looking for more mud-out teams to go to Arkansas. In talking to their State Director, the flooding is just getting to the Western side of the state. He believes they will be doing Flood Recovery for the next 1 ½ months so that would take it to August +/-. If you can put together a team to go, please contact us here at the office as with the dates you would like to take a team. We have one team heading out this weekend and another the next week and one scheduled for July. They could use more.
Somehow, we lost a few names of the distribution list for these updates. For that, I apologize. If you are on this list or know someone who should be on this list that is not getting these updates, please have them contact Elizabeth and myself to let us know. Our goal is not to exclude any leaders who needs/wants the information.
What I NEED from you as team leaders is to make sure that this information is passed on to the volunteers on your team. If you do not know who they are, contact Elizabeth and she will show you how to access that information. When I was at the SBC meeting this week, I received a card in the box from a volunteer stating she was trained but, had never “been called”. Reality is that in the last 3.75 years TN volunteers have responded to over 50 locations. There should not be any reason that a trained volunteer has not had multiple opportunities to respond. Please pass the information along, even if you cannot get a whole team together. We can always try to hook them up with another team going.
Tennessee volunteers are amazing. You have done more than I could have ever imagined when I came. You have been faithful to show up, serve and minister to those in need. Thank you so much.
Keep your eyes open for ways to plug in people into different ways of serving. Always be looking for and working with others that you can train up to take on rolls of service and leadership.
Thanks for all you do.
In Christ Serving Together,
