Dear Tennessee Baptists,
As I write this letter, Hurricane Florence is making landfall along the East Coast. The satellite images of this storm have been awesome. The breadth and intensity currently reported promise a sizeable impact and catastrophic damage for some areas. Please pray for God’s intervention, for those affected and for the Disaster Relief volunteers preparing to respond.
I am always burdened for those in harm’s way when I see natural disasters wreak havoc in people’s lives, displacing thousands, destroying their homes and in many cases taking the lives of their loved ones. I am simultaneously thankful, however, that Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers are ever ready to rush towards those disasters to serve people both physically and spiritually. We currently have a number of teams staged and ready to mobilize, and they could use your help.
First, they could use your prayers for safety, that God will use them to alleviate the suffering of others and that He will use our volunteers to bring many to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Secondly, they could use your continued financial support through your church’s normal giving channels. Your Cooperative Program and Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions giving are the lifeblood of ministry, especially Disaster Relief.
Thirdly, the most tangible way to help beyond your regular giving is offering a special financial gift over and above Cooperative Program and GOTM giving. Rest assured that every penny of your generosity is applied directly to the relief effort and none toward administrative overhead.

Tennessee Baptists, we have risen to the occasion many times in the past and I am confident we will do so now.
It is truly my joy to be on this journey with you.
