New Updates for Texas, Florida, & Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico (Map: NOAA)

Team Leaders, Secretaries and DOMs,

I want to thank all our volunteers and leadership that continue to serve those in need when called upon. You are a blessing to work with.

Here is the latest update on what is happening through TN Disaster Relief.

Harvey – Chainsaw jobs in Texas are wrapping up. We are not going to send any more chainsaw teams to Texas. We will continue to send Flood Recovery Teams as they are available. We have one team down there now and two scheduled to go down next week. If you have teams that are willing to go, please send us your team name, unit number and dates you would like to go. We will keep scheduling teams for as long as they have work. They are also beginning to do rebuilding. If you have teams or groups that would like to be involved in this part of the work, please let us know and we will try and get you connected with their leadership.

Irma – Florida is down to two feeding units and these will be closing soon. They continue to work on some Flood Recovery and Debris Clean-up. They are wrapping up work orders very fast. They believe they can handle it with the groups they are already working with. We will not be officially sending any more teams to assist unless the situation on the ground changes.

Maria – Do not blink or things will change, and they have. We are now in the process of gathering a team of 20, experienced, credentialed feeding volunteers to leave either October 8th or 9th. They have specifically asked us to send this team. Please pray for them. They are still not exactly sure what they will be getting into our exactly how they will be used. They may be divided up into teams of 2-3 and go into local schools to assist the local people to produce more meals for the community. They may also go out and deliver prepared food out of the back of military vehicles. They may assist in the delivery of 500,000 Coleman stoves to individual homes. Pray that they will have the fluidity to adjust to whatever helps meet the needs of the Puerto Rican people. Pray that God will use this to open many opportunities to share the Good News of Christ in the middle of this crisis. Pray that they might bring help, hope and healing to those in need.

As other opportunities arise to serve the people of Puerto Rico are made available, I will do my best to keep you informed.

In Christ Serving Together,
Wes Jones
