Moving Forward – Harvey and Irma

Let me bring you up-to-date and share where we are, going forward.

We have Incident Command, Feeding, Laundry, Shower, Chaplain and Flood Recovery units in place and working in Sugarland, TX. We also have units working with Union Baptist Association in Houston. There are three other units that have one on one relationships with churches in the impacted area that they will work with. We are scheduled for the next two weeks with other teams looking to respond later.

As of this afternoon, they have 36+ job requests, the feeding unit has fed well over 10,000 meals and the shower unit did over 100 showers yesterday.

NOW IRMA is showing up and we are also being asked to be ready to respond to the needs there. I am placing ALL Feeding People, Chainsaw Crews, Shower, Laundry, Chaplains on ALERT. This storm can hit from the south tip of Florida all the way up through the Carolinas depending on its track.

We have a feeding unit on standby but will probably need all the supporting units to assist as well.

Check your units and your availability to respond. Please send Elizabeth (eholmes@tnbaptist.org) and myself (wjones@tnbaptist.org) your Unit number and type as well as your availability dates. How fast can you respond once this storm has passed?

We will begin to make a list of teams and work with scheduling of them. If you have people that do not have a team, but want to respond, please have them send us their availability.

Continue to pray for all those in the path as well as all those responding.

In Christ Serving Together,
Wes Jones
